The mission of Pillows and Plenty is to provide brand new clothing and other neccesary items, such as pillows and bedding, to needy children in the inner city and low income areas in the greater Los Angeles area. Approximately 25 percent of children in the Los Angeles metropolitan area live in poverty.
The inspiration for Pillows and Plenty is based on the poem, written in the 1920's by a young girl in her teens. She wrote of despair and longing for a better life. Yet, in that poem, there is a hint of hope. We can imagine that someone intervened in her life, that someone changed her outlook and made her a believer in the good of people. And she learned that though this world may sometimes seem like a place with “more cabbages in it than kings,” there are people who do care for children in need. And there are people who want to make a positive difference in the lives of children.
