A Fresh Start for Students: Small Gifts, Lasting Impact

At Pillows and Plenty, we believe every student deserves to feel supported, prepared, and encouraged as they begin a new school year. Recently, we had the opportunity to extend that support to foster youth, students experiencing homelessness, and two visually impaired students at local schools.

Through the Foster Care Project, we provided 12 transitional-age youth with beautiful leather journals, complete with pens and gift boxes, along with $100 Target gift cards to help them prepare for the school year.

We also reached four students at a local continuation school who are experiencing homelessness and are supported through the McKinney-Vento program. Each student received a $100 Target gift card, a journal, and essential toiletries, with additional items to help support their siblings.

At a local high school, we provided two visually impaired freshmen with practical tools to support their daily school routines: one received a rolling backpack, while the other received the rolling cart he requested. Both students also received Target gift cards to help meet their needs.

The McKinney-Vento program helps remove barriers to education for students who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence, supporting school stability, transportation, and access to essential resources.

These donations are about more than gift cards, journals, or school supplies. They are about helping young people feel valued and equipped to move forward with confidence. We are grateful for the opportunity to make a difference, one student at a time.

Together, we can help create a brighter beginning.
